We took the girls (2015 fillies) out to the CWHBA Open Breed show to be shown in the CWHBA Foal Futurity as well as the Open Foal class. It was great to be able to show in front of different judges at the same venue. Sirique came in 2nd place and Bonfilia in 3rd place in the Foal Futurity in front of the judging panel of Christian Poschung, Andrew Dalnoki and Jill Stephen. Sirique had a blast flying around the very large ring at a canter and gallop but didn’t show much trot which hurt her scores. Under judge Lorraine McDonald in the Open foal class she tied for 2nd, and was declared Reserve Junior Champion.
We’ve decided to retain both these fillies at this point in time as potential broodmare prospects for our own herd. Sirique is by Sir Gregory out of Unique by Gribaldi. Her mother is an exceptional individual and very good producer. Bonfilia is by the late Bon Balou, out of our mare Rivalia, a powerhouse mare who produces good movement as well as a powerful athletic jump.
